FIRST is an international non-profit organization whose goal is to encourage teenagers to interest in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and was founded in 1992 by Dean Kamen, an American entrepreneur. FIRST promotes the philosophy of teamwork and co-operation, and encourages the teams to show kindness, especially during competitions.
FIRST inspires and attract children to STEM subjects through it's programs, who promote creative thinking and problem solving abilities. The FLL. Jr, FLL, FTC, FRC and FGC are all different robotics competitions who have different mechanics, but are similar at their core and their values.
Every January, FIRST reveals this year's FRC game rules, and the build season begins. The events peak at the world championship in April, in which the teams who were the best at the regional events, compete for the internationally 1st place. These competitions improve students' both technical and social skills, and in some cases, even help them choose a career path.
FIRST was brought to Israel in 2005 and more than 10000 Israeli students take part at it's programs, that are made possible thanks to the assistance of volunteers, guides, teachers and parents.
